We are excited to announce that Eko is updating our iOS and Android Mobile Applications to accommodate our new device, the Eko DUO. Much of the functionality of the original Eko application remains the same, with some changes made to ease the workflow of using your Eko device with the Eko application. Let’s walk through the updated application!
Login / Create Account screen
Already an Eko user? Great! Just enter in the same email and password you’ve been using and you will have access to all of the patients and recordings you have previously created.
New to Eko? Even better!! Click “Sign Up” to create your free Eko account.
Click on the “Open the mail app” or visit your email profile to confirm the account creation.
The overview screen will only appear when you first update or download the application, or when creating a new user.
Create a PIN
Creating a PIN is not necessary but recommended. If you decide to create a PIN, you won’t need to enter it to access the Eko app, pair your Eko device, or initiate a recording but you will need to enter your PIN to access Patient Profiles. You will subsequently be asked to confirm your PIN by re-entering it.
If your Eko device is turned On, the Eko app will identify it in the Connect Device screen. You do not need to pair an Eko device with Eko app in order to proceed with installing the application.
Welcome to the Home screen! You’ll notice that the screen rotates between the Eko CORE and Eko DUO, an indicator that this version of the application accommodates both devices. If you are using the older version of the Eko app, the Eko CORE will remain fixed on the Home Screen.
From the Home screen you can Connect your Eko device, tap the bars in the top left to adjust your Settings, and tap the person icon in the top right to view your Patients.
From the Settings panel, you can connect and disconnect your Eko device from the Eko app, if you have access to our Livestream telemedicine service you can initiate a session and manage every aspect of your account information (email address, username, PIN, password). We also have links to our Customer Support site and contact information. The Settings menu will change to reflect the Eko device that you have connected with the Eko application.
Your PIN returns! In order to ease access to the Eko app but maintain PHI protection your PIN is only required when accessing your Patient Profiles. Again, setting a PIN is not necessary but recommended. Forgot your PIN? Use your fingerprint (if your mobile device accommodates this functionality) or enter in your email address and password used to create your Eko account.
Once you’ve entered your PIN (or preferred login credentials) you will be brought to your Patients screen. Eko includes three Sample Patients for reference. By tapping on the blue circle with the plus symbol (+) you can create additional patients.
Adding new Patients
The only information needed to create a new Patient is the Patient ID. You will not be allowed to save a new Patient without inputting some information in that field. Once you’ve created a Patient you can add recordings to that Patient, share via a PHI protected email, alter that Patient’s information, and delete that Patient’s profile.
Once you’ve connected your Eko device
You’ll notice that the User Interface (UI) changes based on which device you’re using. The image on the left was taken after connecting an Eko CORE, the image to the right taken when the Eko DUO was connected.
BPM (beats per minute or heart rate) will appear with either device after approximately ten seconds when a reading is taking place.
Initiate a recording once your Eko device is paired with the Eko app by pressing the blue circle at the bottom of the screen. The blue circle will turn into a blue square, and a countdown will occur at the top of the screen with the word “Recording” appearing above the countdown timer.
Once your recording is complete, you have the option of reviewing the recording (selecting the blue Play button to the left), saving the recording to a Patient (green Save button in the middle), or deleting the recording (the red Delete button to the right).
You will be cued to enter your PIN to access your saved Patients. Then you can select from one of the Patients you have saved or create a new Patient to save the recording to.
Recording length defaults to 15 seconds; this can be changed to record up to 120 seconds from the Settings menu. Please note, many of these options only appear when your Eko device is actively connected to the Eko app.
Quick Record refers to functionality activated from the Eko device.
