Using Eko Clinic App on Android

Download the Eko Clinic App for Android

All Eko stethoscopes come with the Essentials features of the Eko App. These features allow you to record, analyze, and securely share data between providers and patients. While it is not required that you use the Eko App, we highly encourage you to use it to get the most out of your Eko device.

Create an Eko Account

To create an Eko Account from a web browser:

  1. Open up the Eko Web Dashboard by clicking here
  2. Click on “Create Account”
  3. Fill out the Sign Up form and click “Create Account.”
  4. Eko will send you a confirmation email after you submit the form. Click on the confirmation link in the email to confirm your Eko Account.

To create an Eko Account from the Eko App:

  1. In the Login screen, click on “Sign Up.”
  2. Confirm you are a healthcare professional.
  3. Enter your full name, email address and then click “Sign Up.”
  4. Eko will send you a confirmation email after you submit the form. Click on the confirmation link in the email to confirm your Eko Account.

Resetting your Eko account password

From the Eko mobile app, tap 'Forgot password' on the sign in screen and you will be guided to reset your password.

From the Web Dashboard, click on "Forgot your Password" below the Sign In button. 

Eko Support staff can also send you the link to reset your password as long as you supply your username (email address). Contact support@ekodevices.com for more info.

Bluetooth Pairing with the Eko App

While it is not required to connect your device to the Eko App, we highly encourage you to do so if you want to access the Eko app features such as creating patient files, saving recordings and wireless screening. To connect your CORE to the Eko app:

  1. Download the Eko App
    1. For Android, click here
  2. Enable your Bluetooth on your selected mobile device. 
    1. On Android devices, go to Home screen > tap the Menu key  > Settings > and tap the slider to turn Bluetooth ON.
  3. Turn ON the CORE and the white LED light will start flashing. 
  4. In the Eko App, click Connect Device.
  5. Select the CORE device on the screen. If the Bluetooth connection is successful, the LED will turn from flashing white to solid white.
  6. If Bluetooth pairing is unsuccessful, an error message will appear in the App and no sounds will be recorded. If you are unable to connect the CORE to your mobile device, please visit our troubleshooting section to learn how to resolve any bluetooth connection issues.

App Setting Overview

  1. View your battery life and bluetooth connection signal quality
  2. Adjust the Audio Filter using the slider.
  3. Turn ON/OFF active noise cancellation.
  4. Adjust recording length using the slider. The default is set to 15 seconds and can be adjusted up to a maximum of 2 minutes. 
  5. Turn Live Stream ON/OFF. This feature is only for users who have Eko’s Telehealth software. Please click here to learn more. 
  6. Adjust your background connection time so the Eko App will continue to run in background mode. This allows your phone to stay connected to the CORE even when you’re not actively on the App. This setting is only applicable when you have Playback from Headphone enabled ON. 

Change your audio filters

To change the filter settings on your CORE, start by turning on the CORE and pairing with your mobile device on the Eko App. Tap the top left corner to go into your settings. Then use the Audio Filter toggle to choose between your three options. 

The three filter options are:

  1. Wide: 45Hz-750Hz (Heart and Lung sounds)
  2. Cardiac: 35Hz-110Hz (Heart and Bowel sounds)
  3. Pulmonary: 275Hz-750Hz (Lung sounds)

Set up wireless auscultation

The following workflow is designed for the Eko CORE Digital Stethoscope (2nd Generation) and Eko CORE Attachment (2nd Generation).

Please note: Make sure your preferred headphones are plugged into or paired with your phone. We recommend using wired headphones for best sound quality but have beta tested with Airpods and got good sound quality with the following devices:

Android: Pixel 3, 3XL, 2A, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy S10+, Galaxy S8, Motorola Moto X4, LG Nexus 5X

Note: If you choose to use Airpods, or other wireless headphones, we recommend testing the sound quality and having wired headphones as a backup. Please see more information on compatible phone and bluetooth headphone models for Wireless Auscultation Here.

Step 1: Launch the Eko App and turn on Play from Headphones by clicking on the headphone icon on the home screen.

Step 2: Plug your preferred headphones into your phone.

Step 3: [DO NOT TRY TO DISASSEMBLE THE CORE FROM THE STETHOSCOPE] 

If needed, you can tie the stethoscope together (see Image 1 for an example of how to do so) but otherwise, the stethoscope should be left as is.

Step 4: Turn on the Eko CORE and pair to the Eko App. Once the device is paired to the App, you can put your mobile device in your pocket or hold in your hand during auscultation. 

Step 5: Put a glove / cover / stethoscope sleeve of your choice on the Eko CORE so that the entire device is covered. This can be changed between patients and the device can also be cleaned with 70% isopropyl alcohol wipes (do not submerge device in liquid).

 Step 6: Auscultation. Use the covered/protected Littmann CORE for auscultation and sounds will be streaming live through your headphones. 

Create, Share or Delete patients

Follow these simple steps to securely share a patient and their corresponding recordings from the Eko App.

Create patients:

  1. Log-in to the Eko Mobile App
  2. Click on the top right corner of the Eko App to navigate to your Patient recordings
  3. Click on the large button “Create New Patient”
  4. Fill out the relevant fields for your new patient. The only thing you need to fill out in order to create a patient is a MRN.
  5. Click Done

Share patients:

  1. Log-in to the Eko Mobile App
  2. Click on the top right corner of the Eko App to navigate to your Patient recordings
  3. Select a patient 
  4. Click on the top right corner to edit the patient information
  5. Scroll down and select "Share Patient" 
  6. Enter collaborator's email address and send

Delete patients:

Patients can only be deleted on the Eko mobile app. Note: If you are part of an institution and wish to delete a patient from the app, only the Super Admin for your site can delete patients- please request their assistance. 

  1. Log-in to the Eko Mobile App
  2. Click on the top right corner of the Eko App to navigate to your Patient recordings
  3. Select a patient 
  4. Click on the top right corner to edit the patient information
  5. Scroll down and select "Delete” 

Take and save recordings

  1. Initiate a recording once your Eko device is paired with the Eko app by pressing the circle at the bottom of the screen. The recording button will turn into a stop button, and a countdown will occur at the top of the screen with the word “Recording” appearing above the countdown timer.
  2. Once the recording is complete, you have the option to playback the recording (selecting the “Play” button to the left), saving the recording to a Patient ( “Assign” button to the right), or creating a new recording (the “New” button in the center).
  3. When the “Assign” button is selected, you will be cued to enter your PIN to access your saved Patients (if a PIN has been set up). Then you can select from one of the Patients in your list or create a new Patient to save the recording to.

Analyze your recordings with Eko AI Analysis

If your account has access to Eko AI Analysis, you can detect the presence of heart murmurs whenever you take a recording. Your AI analysis results will show up within 5 seconds of completing your recording. 

  1. Launch the Eko App and connect your CORE 
  2. Take a recording.
  3. After about 5 seconds or so, the AI results will show up at the bottom of your screen. 
  4. Note:For recordings longer than 15 seconds(up to 30 seconds), Eko AI will only analyze the first 15 seconds of data. Ensuring that signal quality is optimal is needed before a recording is initiated in order to return the best analysis results. Follow the steps outlined in Capturing Good Quality Data to ensure optimal data quality.
