Listen to a livestream December 12, 2022 18:20 Updated Who is this feature for? Clinicians at an institution where this feature is enabled If you’re at the distant (listening) site, you can listen to a livestream from an originating site either through a link the site sends you or through the Eko Dashboard if you have an account and are signed in. Here’s the general process: Sign into the Eko Dashboard. Get the livestream link from the originating site, OR Navigate to the site’s livestream from the Dashboard. Start listening to the livestream. Tips For best audio quality, be sure to use high quality plugged in or Bluetooth headphones/earbuds while listening. It may be best to wear headphones throughout the visit to ease the workflow. Hardwired headphones that connect to a computer via 3.5mm aux jack may be preferred as they typically have less configuration needs than a USB headset, but either should work well. Ask the site to mute their microphone to prevent any outside noise during the livestream. About livestream links A livestream link for a site or clinician is always the same URL. It can be shared with many different people, who can save the link and navigate to it anytime they want to listen to the livestream. It can also be reset when needed by your Institution Admin or Program Admin. Watch a video Listen anonymously to a livestream If you don’t have an Eko account and want to listen to a livestream anonymously, simply click the link the site sent you. A browser window opens with the livestream screen. Listen through the Eko Dashboard If you have an Eko account, you can listen to a livestream through the dashboard. 1. Sign into the Dashboard Sign into the dashboard with your Eko account credentials. 2. Open the livestream You can simply click the livestream link if the site provided one. The livestream will open in the Dashboard. You can also navigate to a site’s livestream in the Dashboard. Livestream-based program If the program is livestream based, all available livestreams from the various sites are shown on the Dashboard. For the relevant site, click Dashboard in the left navigation bar. Click the site’s Join Live Stream button. The livestream screen opens. If the livestream is not currently on at the site, a Waiting for Livestream message appears. You can adjust or mute the volume with the volume slider on the bottom of the screen or by adjusting your computer’s volume. To exit, click Exit on the bottom right. Recording-based program Recording-based programs have an option to connect to livestreams from the left navigation bar. On the left navigation bar, click Live Stream. The Live Streams screen opens. Click the relevant site’s Join Live Stream button. The livestream screen opens. If the livestream is not currently on at the site, a Waiting for Livestream message appears. You can adjust or mute the volume with the volume slider on the bottom of the screen. To exit, click Exit on the bottom right. Best practices The distant site provider should always use plug-in headphones in order to receive the best audio quality during the auscultation portion of the visit; it may be advisable to wear headphones throughout the visit to ease the workflow. If performing the consultation using a Windows PC, audio settings may need to be adjusted to prevent Windows from reducing the Livestream volume. The originating site won’t be able to adjust your listening volume, only their own. Be sure to use any local controls on your computer, as well as the built-in volume adjustment located on the livestream screen. If you’re experiencing audio feedback, it could be helpful to suggest to your originating site to briefly mute their microphone during your remote listening. That way, you can continue to instruct on stethoscope placement as needed. When bi-directional conversation is needed again, remember to unmute. Troubleshooting Compatible web browsers include Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. If another browser is your default browser, simply launch a compatible browser and copy/paste the livestream link into the search bar. If experiencing an issue with the stability of your connection and waveforms, instruct the site to move closer to the device that the stethoscope is paired with. Note the connection status in the top left corner of the waveform view for real-time feedback, which corresponds to your overall connection across Bluetooth and your network. It’s recommended to quit any applications you have running on your computer that you don’t need during your visit to ensure adequate bandwidth for your telemedicine visit plus Eko livestream. If the originating site resets the livestream link and no waveform is displayed in your browser, simply request that they share the livestream link with you again. If the waveform is still not displaying despite a successful connection and active livestream from your originating site, then you may need to have your IT/IS group check that the appropriate URLs and ports have been whitelisted. When the session is complete, you can close the browser window and return to the video conference. LBL364 Rev.A Date of Issue August 31, 2022
