The CORE 500™ screen shows a box with an arrow inside it when it's in firmware update mode.
This screen appears when you press and hold the top button and volume up button at the same time for 2 seconds when the device is turned off. To exit this screen:

Wait for 1 minute until the device transitions into the resting state screen, with the audio filter shown.

Or, turn off the device by pressing and holding the top button and volume up button for 2 seconds. See Turn on and off the CORE 500™.
The device screen turns off.
