What’s the difference between the 3M™ Littmann® CORE Digital Stethoscope and the Eko CORE Digital Attachment? The 3M™ Littmann® CORE Digital Stethoscope is a 3M™ Littmann® Cardiology IV™ analog stethoscope that is pre-assembled with the Eko CORE Digital Attachment. The stethoscope is manufactured and tested by 3M™ Littmann®. The CORE Digital Attachment is manufactured and tested by Eko and works with most traditional stethoscopes. The CORE Digital Attachment can be purchased individually and is compatible with most popular stethoscope models from 3M™ Littmann®, ADC, WelchAllyn, MDF, and Medline with no tubing cutting necessary. Which analog stethoscopes are compatible with the CORE Digital Attachment? The CORE Digital Attachment has been tested with these analog stethoscopes: 3M™ Littmann® Cardiology II/III/IV WelchAllyn Harvey Elite Medline ADC It's also compatible with most single lumen analog stethoscopes. Note The CORE Digital Attachment is NOT compatible with Sprague Rappaport-type, double lumen tube stethoscopes, or other digital stethoscopes. Who is the Eko CORE digital attachment designed for? Because the CORE Digital Attachment is compatible with most single lumen traditional stethoscopes, it's designed for any clinician who performs diagnostic assessments or auscultation, works in settings with background noise, or performs both in-person and virtual telehealth exams. It's also ideal in school settings for educators and students to teach and learn body sounds. Note The CORE Digital Attachment won't work with double lumen stethoscopes such as the Sprague Rappaport. Recommended for: Physicians PAs and NPs Nurses EMTs and first-responders Veterinarians Home health providers Can students use Eko stethoscopes? Yes, we encourage students to use Eko stethoscopes to learn auscultation skills and how to identify heart, lung, and body sounds. Can Eko products be used for telemedicine, virtual, or home care? Eko stethoscopes and software are purpose-built for telemedicine. Eko supports virtual care or telehealth programs for individual providers, small clinics, and multi-site hospitals. A subscription may be required for telemedicine live streaming. Speak with a telemedicine consultant. I'm having a hard time disassembling my analog stethoscope’s tubing! What can I do? We recommend running the tubing under hot water for a minute. The hot water will soften and loosen the tubing material and make it significantly easier to pull away from the chestpiece. What is Eko analysis or automated detection software? Eko analysis software, or Eko AI, is FDA-cleared software that includes screening algorithms to assist clinicians in detecting suspected murmurs and AFib. Important Eko AI analysis is currently only available in the U.S. We're actively working on offering it in other countries. When the Eko App is connected and used with a compatible digital stethoscope, Eko’s FDA-cleared software automatically checks for murmurs and/or AFib during Cardiac Exam or Spot Check. (The Eko DUO ECG + Digital Stethoscope is required for AFib detection). The Eko App summarizes any findings, including potential murmurs, AFib, or other abnormalities detected. These findings aren’t a diagnosis, but are intended to aid the clinician in reaching a diagnosis accurately, quickly, and confidently. To learn more, see the Eko analysis software user manual. What is the battery life of the Eko CORE digital attachment? The Eko CORE digital attachment has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that stays charged with 8 hours of continuous use, and generally lasts 2 weeks between charges with normal use. The stethoscope still functions as an analog cardiology-grade stethoscope when the power is off. Does the Eko CORE digital attachment help with hearing loss? There are three main ways the Eko CORE digital attachment supports clinicians with hearing loss: Amplified sounds help users hear low frequency sounds more clearly. Visualizing sound waveforms (phonocardiograms) on the Eko App helps the user confirm the sounds they are hearing. The Eko App pairs with Bluetooth-enabled hearing aids, cochlear implants, and streaming devices. To learn more, see this section of our Help Center: Wireless listening and hearing loss support. View our Stethoscope Guide for Healthcare Workers with Hearing Loss and watch a video explaining how to configure the Littmann CORE Digital Stethoscope with different types of hearing aids. How does the Eko CORE digital attachment work for Bluetooth or wireless listening? The Eko CORE digital attachment provides wireless functionality using Bluetooth technology when using the Eko App for iOS and Android. It pairs with Bluetooth-enabled headphones, hearing aids, and speakers. The CORE Digital Attachment transmits sounds via Bluetooth with your stethoscope earpieces attached or unattached, making your stethoscope a wireless stethoscope. To learn more, see Set up wireless listening for hearing loss or headphones. Which wireless headphones are recommended for the Eko CORE digital attachment and Eko App for wireless listening?
